Open Mind - Endless Possibilities

It is with great enthusiasm that I continue to unveil my ideas, passions and standpoints on life in general through this blog. Those of you who read my blog may not always agree with what I have to say and that is perfectly fine with me. In fact, I welcome a debate or disagreement simply for the fact that it opens a discussion among human beings and that is an ideal scenario for one’s spirit to thrive. It is the thoughts that grow within the depths of our minds, which we entertain most often; even unintentionally. For example – subconsciously, we tend to focus on how we truly feel, during a night’s rest or quite possibly in a daydream while sitting in on a dull lecture. All of these questions, ideas and concerns that seem to appear out of thin air then vanish like a magician with a smoke screen, are constantly revealing either who we really are on the inside, or even who we are meant to be on the outside.

“The mind is not a vessel to be filled,

but a fire to be kindled.”

          ~Plutarch

The next important discovery about ourselves is learning to listen, decipher and decode our initial thoughts into the application necessary to achieve success on whatever level that will be. Listen to yourself, never ignore what the core part of you is saying. Often times growing up, we are taught to “Go with our gut feeling”; this is the exact same concept and application. There is always a voice of reason to be heard within our minds, this is also more commonly referred to as the conscience. Although, there is some degree of contradiction growing up in our world today concerning matters such as this. As most would agree, we heard another phrase growing up, “Go with the flow”; and hence following the confusion can begin. If we decide the fate of our days on a whim, surely we will not get very far. If we maintain the mentality of having our way in every situation or nothing at all, it would be difficult, if not next to impossible, to sustain even a simple friendship nonetheless a complex relationship.

This reasoning is provoked by the understanding that we all have our own conscience. This is reinforced by the old adage, “To each, his own”. In light of all of this this, I find that learning to work with one another and considering each other’s ideas and concerns without pride and ignorance, we may just be able to discover the crucial element of co-thriving. Balance must be obtained for this logic to be within reach. Learn to listen, learn to feel and learn to take action. Once we are able see our attainments at the horizon, we will become instinctively successful.

Music, Magic

In this world, there is nothing more universally received and understood than music.  It is a language, comprehended by anyone who has the ability to hear or simply feel such as the nearly deaf Beethoven would follow the vibrations of the instruments while working and living as a master composer. There seems to be a soulful, invisible power that resides within each note played on a piano, each string picked on a guitar and within each beat of a drum.
One of the most prevailing affluence's of music is its uncanny capability of expressing our emotions. We may pick up our favorite instrument and play a song that describes the way we feel, we may put on our favorite album and just solely listen. These are avenues to the soul. We can listen to our worries being narrated by a weeping riff from a soulful B.B. King live improvisation.  Perhaps it is the “4 Ballades”, by Frédéric Chopin that connects us to a deeper understanding of ourselves. Whichever way we look at it, music is here to stay and it will continue to live on in the hearts of us who call it magic.
